Naoko Wowsugi, Good Mo/u\rning (work in progress), Morning glory, organic soil, bamboo, cotton fishnet and wood, 4FT x 4FT x 6FT, 2020
Good Mo/u\rning offers a symbolic place of expressing grief and manifesting healing. A participant is invited to meditate, mourn and reflect in a single-person mediation pyramid covered with morning glory in the dawn. By encouraging the act of grief, we will colligate the cyclical nature of being; darkness and light; night and morning; farewell and welcome. The work (morning glory) in progress will be updated on artists Instagram @geyonce.forever. Space for this project was provided by Halcyon.
Naoko Wowsugi is an artist of Korean-Japanese descent, based in Washington, D.C. Using combined practices of visual art, local research, and community participation, Wowsugi’s projects highlight and fortify everyday communal and interpersonal identities.
